All Over Olive

2015 November 13
Comments Off on All Over Olive

Olive green is having a major moment this fall! The current “it” can lend to a military-inspired vibe when fatigued or washed out, or evoke the 70’s when worn in a deeper brown version of the color. Just like denim, olive green is considered a neutral palette, making it super easy to pair with other items, from jeans to evening blouses!

Spots of Fur

We at Fashion Scouts LA absolutely advocate an animal cruelty-free world, so when we talk about the use of fur or buy it for our clients, it is always in reference to FAUX! That said, the designers showcased here had some inspired ideas with the luxury item with a brand new take. Fur was shown on styles as a detail- spots of fur with interesting placement included on arms, as large pockets, and cuffs on sleeves. These panels and appliques were added on everything from double-breasted coats to evening dresses, and the results were striking!

Go Even Higher!

High rises on bottoms seem to be sticking around for now, but some runways showed waistlines climbing to all-time heights! Hitting at or above the naval, these styles have a slimming and sexy effect that suits nearly every body type. Who doesn’t want elongated legs and a smaller waist? We certainly do! Go classic with black, or go bold with a patterned or leather pant. Whatever your style is, you’ll definitely find the ones you’ll love!

Bold Geometrics

Geometric patterns have been around for several seasons, but this fall designers have taken a more literal approach to the idea. Linear and angled shapes combine with bold colors to make a strong impact on everything from 2-piece sets to cocktail dresses to statement coats. The trick to wearing the trend is keeping the silhouette simple so as not to be overwhelmed by the daring colors and patterns. This is exactly what we need for those grey and rainy autumn days!

The Victorian Era

Fall in love with the season’s romantic side. Puffed sleeves, high necks, delicate lace, velvet, ruffles and chiffon bring back the best elements of the Victorian era. It’s chic, mysterious, feminine and sexy all at the same time. Black and white looks were hot on the runways, while dark blue and earth tones look amazing with the idea as well. This is one way to feel majestic this fall!

Big Pockets

Comments Off on Big Pockets

Jackets, coats, dresses and skirts all seemed to have something in common on fall 2015 runway shows: oversized and prominently displayed pockets. It’s an eye-catching detail that adds something new to an outfit- especially when done in a contrasting color block. Other statement pocket pieces include the fur variations like those seen at Marni and ADEAM, as well as the metallic ones at Christopher Kane. Finally- somewhere to keep all of our possessions without having to carry a purse!
